Reversed-Phase High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with Electrochemical Detection of Anthocyanins

Anthocyanins, flavonoid compounds present in grapes and wines, were determined by reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) with electrochemical detection (RP-HPLC-ED). The method developed consists of RP-HPLC gradient elution with voltammetric detection using a glassy carbon electrode after separation in an Inertsil ODS-3V analytical column. Good peak resolution was obtain...

ClC-3 is a candidate of the channel proteins mediating acid-activated chloride currents in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells.

Acid-activated chloride currents have been reported in several cell types and may play important roles in regulation of cell function. However, the molecular identities of the channels that mediate the currents are not defined. In this study, activation of the acid-induced chloride current and the possible candidates of the acid-activated chloride channel were investigated in human nasopharynge...

A novel classification of Lewis acids on the basis of activity and selectivity.

Group 3-15 metal chlorides (Lewis acids) were classified on the basis of activity and aldehyde- and aldimine-selectivity in an addition reaction of a silyl enol ether. Based on the experimental results, metal chlorides (Lewis acids) were classified as follows: A, active; B, weak; C, inactive for the activation of the aldehyde and/or aldimines. Groups A and B were further divided into A-1 or B-1...

The ClC-3 chloride channel associated with microtubules is a target of paclitaxel in its induced-apoptosis

Recent evidences show that cationic fluxes play a pivotal role in cell apoptosis. In this study, the roles of Cl(-) channels in paclitaxel-induced apoptosis were investigated in nasopharyngeal carcinoma CNE-2Z cells. Chloride current and apoptosis were induced by paclitaxel and inhibited by chloride channel blockers. Paclitaxel-activated current possessed similar properties to volume-activated ...

Modeling chloride transport in cracked concrete: a 3-D image–based microstructure simulation

The prediction of the service life of concrete materials is difficult, mainly because of their complex heterogeneous microstructure and their random nature. Studying the presence of cracks in concrete and their effect on chloride transport and binding properties is of great interest in civil engineering. Cracks with different widths and depths will reduce the effective cover thickness and accel...
